Watchdog says to check information about Mail.ru clients data leak

MOSCOW, Jan 13 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service will check information about a leak of personal data of Internet company VK’s e-mail service Mail.ru, the authority said on Friday in a statement.

“According to the law on personal data, the operator must notify the communications service about the incident during 24 hours after it occurs,” the authority said.

A company representative told PRIME earlier that the exposed personal data of a presumably one of Mail.ru’s services were related to a leak of a third party service at the beginning of 2022, and the users of the e-mail service are safe.
